Potty-Trained

I felt a bit like a failure when I realized most of my peers' kids are already potty-trained before their kids turn 4 years old.

Diapers are expensive (thanks pull-up pants !) and fill up landfill up to the sky. I don't know what am I thinking buying 5 packs of diapers every month when all my boy need is a kick start and an instruction.

Instead of turning to the internet for ideas to assist my mission, I just adopt go-with-flow approach to potty-train Razin.

The first day, I told him he's already a big boy, thus doesn't need to wear diapers anymore. To my suprise, he said, "Ok !"

The next day and the many days after that, he was diaper-less from morning to night. He would run to the washroom to pee. Yeah, there were a few occasions when he forgot about not wearing a diaper and the next thing, the floor was all messy.

But most of the time, he remembers to go to the washroom. He even went diaperless when going out, and would inform us if nature calls. Lucky he's a boy, he can just point-and-shoot anywhere. One time, my other half brought him to the lake and he had to pee under a tree.

The only time he needs to wear one is at night and when he needs to do the bigger business. Maybe I need to buy the small toilet bowl for that purpose.

I definitely underestimate him. It only took one-time instruction, and off he went without diaper.

There is so much potential in a child. Just because we don't see it, doesn't mean they are not capable.
