She was very upset, but I didn't blame her. The studs worth 75k !
I also lost my diamond studs recently. I brought a couple other earrings to swap with, and I didn't keep my diamond studs in a proper case. The next thing I know, it was gone. I suspected it dropped from the zipped case (with a gap !) while I was busy taking out my clothes from the luggage bag. The housekeeping staff came earlier in the morning to make my hotel room, I immediately knew it is now somewhere in their vacuum cleaner.
That earrings was just a fraction of Kim's, but it held sentimental values. My mom bought it for me many years ago and I've been wearing it ever since. Took it off once in while, switching it with more glamorous earrings, but never for long.
But her now-husband Kris Humphries' words made me ponder, "I would never own anything that would upset myself that much if I lost it. It's material."
That was the exact same thing ran inside my mind the minute I lost the studs. I was at the brink of losing my temper and crying hysterically, when I remembered something that I often asked myself when distinguishing things that matter in life.
If I am stuck under a rumble of a fallen building, does ____________ matters?
Filled up the empty space with Chanel PST, Mulbery Mini Alexa, CC Skye chain bracelet, Vita Fede bracelet, Christian Louboutins' nude pumps, leopard-print French Sole flats, diamond studs.
Does it matter?
NO.
Sometimes we are too caught up in what the media and society want us to be, we forgot who we really are, what we really want and what we really need. But at the end of the day, we are the one who decide what matters most in life.
Yeah, I want a new bag, but that can wait. Morning kisses from my kids are something I won't trade with anything in this world. The people I love and the people who care for me, are what matters most to me.
