I bet those who claimed that are living under a big rock. They should have gone to the Big Bad Wolf Sale last week and see with their own eyes how Malaysians buy books by the boxes. A bevy of bookworms took the trouble walking under the hot sun from the parking bays (some cheated and took the shuttle bus hehe, we didn't. Exercise maaa !) with luggage bags/trolleys and made a bee line to the entrance.
Once inside, I was stunned seeing so many books stacked up. 1.5 million books, where shall I start?
Good thing, books are segregated by genres, thus people didn't go berserk like trying to find a needle in the haystack. There was also ample space for you to browse and flip each and every book without nudging the next person's elbow. In fact, this must be the most civilised warehouse sale I've ever been to. Nary an announcement reminding you about pickpockets, just occasional ones on 'lost husbands'.

Most books are priced at RM 5 or RM 8.So dirt cheap, we bought 23 books altogether - for RM 230 only !

Malaysians do read after all.
